תקציר

In this course the students will acquire basic reading models and strategies to apply to a variety of texts, including media texts. During the course the students will read a wide range of print and non-print, restricted and authentic texts with an emphasis on the development of academic and non-academic lexis. The students will be involved in a global construction of the “messages” in the texts, including the cultural ideologies the texts encode and an understanding of their own role in the reading process. In addition we will explore the implications of living in an overwhelmingly media-immersed world by addressing fundamental questions in the study of cultural representation, namely: What is the relation between culture/history and media images and narratives?
